The Brown SWCD personnel and the White Oak Creek Watershed Coordinator both conduct

macroinvertebrate monitoring with school students.

White Oak Creek Watershed Fish Community Assessment

Through the assistance of graduate student John Speath with Northern Kentucky University/ University of  Southern Mississippi, there was a comprehensive fish community assessment completed on White Oak Creek and its major tributaries.   With the financial assistance of Ohio EPA and a section 319 grant, this study serves as baseline data for fish species and population in the WOC Watershed.  Click below to view the study.

White Oak Creek water monitoring through the local high schools

2000 - 2003 High School Student Water Monitoring Teams

All high school water monitoring teams were supplied with approx. $5,000 worth of equipment

to do classroom/field water monitoring.  The data was then to be passed on the SWCD for further

analysis and recorded for baseline data.  The group were to monitoring bi-monthly in the spring

and fall for 3 years.

Each group was to conduct 10 tests at each site:

  1. temperature

  2. pH

  3. alkalinity

  4. reactive phosphates

  5. total phosphates

  6. nitrates

  7. turbidity

  8. dissolved oxygen

  9. e-coli

  10. fecal coliform

The White Oak Creek Watershed Project has a completed & approved Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP)
